Southern Italy Steering Committee

A Steering Committee for the coordination of policies for Southern Italy is established within the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, with functions of strategic guidance, coordination and monitoring. It is chaired by the Undersecretary with responsibility for policies for Southern Italy and comprises the Ministers forming the Government, the other Undersecretaries of State, the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Presidents of the regions of Southern Italy, a representative of the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI), and a representative of the Union of the Provinces of Italy (UPI).

Depending on the matters under consideration, the Chair may invite, including at the proposal of Committee members, additional non-voting representatives from other public administrations and public or private bodies, as well as representatives of social partners, the production system, universities and civil society.

Technical secretariat and organisational support activities are provided by the Department for Southern Italy.
